I’ve spent the past 18 years working in medical and lab settings, and since 11/2020 I’ve been at Blessing Hospital as a Lab Tech Assistant III in Cytology.
I process and screen Pap smears and multiple cytology specimens, handle GC/Chlymidia and HPV specimens, and support slide preparation, including hand staining and cover slipping. I also use ThinPrep 2000 and an automatic stainer, and I’ve worked with CoPath, SunQuest, Smart Term, and Blessing Hospital’s 8100.
When needed, I’ve expanded into Histology and taken on Pathology Secretary duties (through October 2023), plus Central Processing and LabCorp send-out work. Before that, I worked as a phlebotomist and medical assistant, from drawing blood and collecting samples to instructing patients on proper collection techniques.
