Shelby Benson
@shelbybenson
I am an experienced medical technologist specializing in microbiology, clinical chemistry, and laboratory management.
What I'm looking for
I am a medical technologist with broad clinical laboratory experience across microbiology, chemistry, hematology, coagulation and blood bank. I specialize in microbiology culture setup, extensive plate reading and complex stain interpretation.
I have worked as a general technologist and travel technologist in multiple clinical settings, performing phlebotomy, EKGs, PCR testing, and routine instrument maintenance. I consistently manage daily, weekly, and monthly quality control to ensure accurate results.
As a laboratory manager, I review QC and patient results, analyze Levy Jennings trends, validate analyzers, manage inventory and budgeting, and report to medical leadership. I lead efforts to reduce turnaround times, monitor blood culture contamination rates, and maintain regulatory compliance.
I hold a B.S. in Medical Laboratory Science and certifications including American Medical Technologist and BLS, and I regularly train and mentor new staff and students. I seek to apply my technical expertise and operational leadership to improve patient care and laboratory performance.
