Christos Polyzoidis
@christospolyzoidis
PhD candidate advancing printable thin-film electronics for harvesting, sensing, and photovoltaics.
What I'm looking for
I’m a PhD candidate at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (Nano@HMU), focused on thin-film electronics for “harvesting and sensing applications.” In the frame of EU-funded Flagship projects (Graphene Core, EMERGE), I fabricated thin film perovskite-graphene photovoltaics and flexible TDM sensors.
I also support research growth beyond the bench: I successfully drafted proposals on thin film Electronics for EU- or national funding. From 2018–2021, I was responsible for the lab’s procurement of equipment & consumables, including communication with suppliers.
Before my PhD, I built a strong foundation in thin-film electronics through EU-funded and state-funded projects. As a student researcher at the Lab for Thin Films & Nanometrology (LTFN), I increased the efficiency of an ID card-sized Organic Photovoltaic by optimizing ZnO material properties and gravure-printing parameters, and I fabricated the first flexible printed OLED (yellow-green) in Greece using gravure printing.
Earlier still, I gained experience in coordinated research operations through administrative support at the European Commission (DG GROW) for Galileo & EGNOS programmes. I prepared deliverables for dissemination and reports, and I tracked minutes during meetings and conferences—skills I bring to my current work and research documentation.

PhD Candidate Laboratory Staff
Hellenic Mediterranean University
Apr 2017 - Present (9 years 2 months)
Fabricated thin-film perovskite–graphene photovoltaics and flexible TDM sensors for EU-funded flagship projects (Graphene Core, EMERGE). Achieved ~2% literature-level efficiency for ID-card-sized organic photovoltaic work, and drafted EU/national funding proposals while coordinating lab procurement and supplier communication.
Programme Management Support
European Commission
Oct 2016 - Feb 2017 (4 months)
Provided administrative support for EU programme management within DG GROW, supporting the Galileo & EGNOS Space Programmes. Compiled global supplier/manufacturer company lists for satellite clocks, prepared dissemination deliverables and reports for Member States and stakeholders, and tracked meeting minutes.
Student Researcher, Thin-Film Electronics
Laboratory for Thin Films & Nanometrology
Aug 2013 - Jun 2015 (1 year 10 months)
Improved an ID-card-sized organic photovoltaic by optimizing ZnO material properties and gravure-printing parameters. Fabricated the first flexible printed yellow-green OLED in Greece, and supported EU- and state-funded projects (SMARTONICS, ROLEMAK, Gr-LIGHT) including contributions to EU-funding proposals.
