James Yunana

I joined Buypower after my NYSC Service year, my first full time role as a developer. I came in as a full stack developer, weighing mainly on HTML, CSS and React skills for my frontend development with Javascript and NodeJs for backend development. I have grown exponentially since joining this team, and have learnt i.e design patterns, microservices and improved in python and typescript.

I joined Varroe Inc. a startup in Ontario Canada as Backend engineer to develop API for their platform to serve their merchant customers. It served as the access point for both the merchant web & mobile user application, it compromised of features like subscriptions, product management, appointment management, staff availability and more.

I was contracted again to join the frontend team to develop a web application to serve the user customer audience. Working in team of 3, we were able to quickly roll out the first release of Varroe, that users could use to access merchant services and book appointment.

Interned as a web developer for Pyrich Group Limited. Where, I wrote functions and improved on existing systems developed and managed by the company. I was an active team member that developed a web based visitor management system for the Department of State Security, written with React & NodeJs. This opportunity helped me grow and learn various techniques and applications of programming.

In service to my country, I joined Inlaks Limited for the mandatory year of the Nigerian Youth Service Corp. Inlaks is the sole distributor and reseller of Temenos T24 Core Banking System in Sub-Saharan Africa for over 20 years. I served as a support personnel for their core banking sector; working on a project with Central Bank Nigeria. More information can be found in my CV.

During my 3rd year in my course of study, I interned at the NBTI to help better understand the theoretical aspects of education. I was a technical support staff to the ministry helping with windows OS configurations, basic PC hardware repairs & windows server configuration and FTP Server configuration. Here I learnt what it takes to work with people and how to better communicate in a team.
