BISMA BASHIR

I am a public health professional with a background in Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), two years of clinical experience, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Hyderabad, where I graduated with a 9.67 CGPA. My career journey has given me exposure to both clinical healthcare delivery and population-level public health, which has developed my strong interest in disease prevention, health promotion, public health research, and strengthening healthcare systems through evidence-based approaches.

During my clinical experience, I worked as a Resident Medical Officer, providing outpatient and inpatient care, assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, maintaining medical records, and communicating with patients and families. During my internship at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, I gained practical exposure to public health programmes, healthcare delivery systems, disease prevention strategies, field-based activities, and community health interventions.

My MPH further strengthened my interest in research and evidence-based public health. I conducted a cross-sectional study on the prevalence of depression among pregnant women attending a sub-district hospital and a scoping review on emerging disease patterns among migrant workers in India, involving literature searching, screening, data extraction, and evidence synthesis. I have also developed experience in health surveys, questionnaire development, data collection, statistical analysis, literature reviews, and scientific writing.

One of my key achievements has been publishing research on Knowledge, Attitude and Practices regarding tetanus vaccination among MBBS, nursing, and paramedical students in the International Journal of Community Medicine and Public Health in 2026. I was also recognised with a Student Achievers Award for academic excellence and have completed additional training in research ethics, public health intelligence, primary healthcare, cancer control planning, and other areas of public health.

I am particularly interested in public health research, programme implementation, project coordination and management, monitoring and evaluation, health systems strengthening, disease prevention, maternal and child health, and evidence-based healthcare. I am looking for opportunities where I can combine my clinical understanding, public health training, research experience, and analytical skills to contribute to meaningful healthcare and development projects. I am especially interested in remote and multidisciplinary roles that allow me to collaborate with diverse teams, work with data and evidence, and contribute to projects that create measurable improvements in population health.
