What I'm looking for

I’m looking to apply end-to-end VLSI and hardware-software literacy to support research operations at the quantum computing interface, working closely with cross-functional teams and delivering accurate technical documentation through strong EDA and verification workflows.

I’m an Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduate with hands-on experience across the full hardware stack—from mathematical filter specification and Verilog RTL design through physical chip layout and GDSII generation. I was trained in cleanroom semiconductor manufacturing at STL Kenya, with exposure to FEOL and BEOL processes in a live production environment.

I coordinate EDA and verification workflows using Xschem for schematic capture, MATLAB/Simulink for simulation and signal analysis, and KLayout for IC layout, mask generation, and DRC. I’m comfortable across the software–hardware boundary—producing accurate technical documentation and supporting cross-functional engineering teams—and I’m currently deepening systems-level programming skills in Rust while seeking to apply my end-to-end literacy to research operations at the quantum computing interface.

SK

Semiconductor Manufacturing Intern

Semiconductor Technologies Limited (STL Kenya)

Aug 2025 - Mar 2026 (7 months)

Coordinated engineering, quality planning, and quality control activities across cleanroom microchip manufacturing operations, maintaining accuracy in daily lab work. Supported design verification and commissioning using EDA tools and contributed to technical reporting across production and executive planning teams.

OD

IC & Circuit Design Attachment

Origin Research and Innovation Lab Africa, DeKUT

Feb 2025 - Apr 2025 (2 months)

Built an integrated IC design workflow using Xschem for schematic capture, MATLAB/Simulink for simulation and signal analysis, and KLayout for IC layout, mask generation, and DRC. Produced quality-controlled simulation reports using Aldec tools to support active FPGA research and verification.

KK

Electrical Engineering Attaché

Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen)

Jan 2024 - Mar 2024 (2 months)

Assisted plant maintenance through inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive servicing of electrical systems and machinery, maintaining accurate equipment and maintenance records. Supported documentation and learned about integrating renewable generation (hydro and geothermal) into the national grid while collaborating with fellow trainees.
