Anele Mdunyelwa
@anelemdunyelwa
Medical Biological Scientist specializing in molecular diagnostics, gene therapy, and viral genomics.
What I'm looking for
I am a Medical Biological Scientist with an MSc (cum laude) in Molecular Medicine and extensive experience in molecular diagnostics, gene therapy research, and viral genomics. I have performed PCR, NGS, and diagnostic workflows across clinical and research laboratories, and contributed to peer-reviewed publications.
My career includes roles in high-throughput diagnostic environments where I conducted SARS-CoV-2 testing and variant identification, implemented assay verification and validation, and supported accreditation and SOP training. I have hands-on expertise with platforms such as GeneXpert and Panther and with laboratory techniques including qPCR, NGS, Sanger sequencing, cloning, cell culture, and viral transduction.
I am committed to rigorous laboratory practice, mentorship, and scientific communication, demonstrated by multiple conference presentations and co-authorship on studies evaluating respiratory virus assays and SARS-CoV-2 molecular epidemiology.
