What I'm looking for

I’m looking to continue writing and editing literary fiction and essays, while mentoring writers through workshops and teaching. I want a team that values war narratives, women’s voices, and rigorous craft grounded in history and culture.

I’m a novelist and literary editor drawn to the modern novel and its many voices—especially veteran writing, WWI and Global War on Terror narratives, and women authors. My work has appeared as novels, short fiction, and essays, with awards and starred reviews recognizing “The Longest Night.”

I’ve published two novels, including The Longest Night (Random House, 2016) and The Waiting World (MilSpeak Books, 2022). My writing has earned accolades such as Amazon’s “Debut Novel of the Month” and Barnes & Noble’s “Discover Great New Authors” pick, and The Longest Night has been published in five languages.

Alongside my fiction, I build editorial worlds. I served as Editor-in-Chief and Fiction/Nonfiction Editor for The Wrath-Bearing Tree, founded and led The Military Spouse Book Review as Founder and Editor-in-Chief (2014–2022), and co-edited Cool It: Simple Steps to Save the Planet (2022–2023).

I also teach and mentor writers through academic roles and workshop facilitation, from adjunct teaching to veteran writing workshops such as “Turning Fact into Fiction.” I’m energized by conversations that connect craft, history, and culture—turning research and lived experience into compelling narratives.
