@andrewcaniglia
Data scientist and analytics professional using Python and SQL to build reliable metrics, dashboards, and ML pipelines.
What I'm looking for
I’m a data scientist/analytics professional with 5+ years of experience using SQL and Python to design metrics, optimize complex systems, and support high-stakes decisions. I focus on statistical analysis, data quality, and reliability metrics for machine-learning workflows—turning ambiguous questions into measurable, data-driven solutions.
Most recently, at Artemis AI Labs, I led label-quality analytics for computer-vision models by designing inter-rater reliability metrics for COCO-style boxes and keypoints, building ETL pipelines to canonicalize annotation data, and maintaining a QA dashboard to route low-quality labels for relabeling. I also shipped a containerized GPU inference microservice (FastAPI) and built a two-pass detection → box-refinement auto-labeling pipeline that improved mean IoU from 0.70 to 0.87 and boosted pixel-tight boxes (IoU≥0.9) from 4% to 67%.

Designed inter-rater reliability metrics for COCO-style boxes and keypoints to flag low-quality images and refine labeling guidelines. Built an ETL pipeline and QA dashboard, then improved box accuracy with a two-pass SAM 3.1 auto-labeling workflow (0.70 to 0.87 mean IoU; IoU≥0.9 from 4% to 67%).
Built SQL/SAS analyses on time and attendance data to identify anomalous leave patterns for HR and management review. Wrote multi-system SQL joins for analytics, audit, and compliance, implemented benefit/retirement eligibility logic to reduce manual errors, and improved metric reliability by reconciling data integrity issues.
Analyzed district device inventory and telemetry to identify schools with unusually high device counts relative to enrollment and schools with prolonged offline devices, supporting recovery and reallocation efforts. Built and maintained SQL/SAS queries and dashboards for student health and attendance metrics, and documented data processes for reproducible handoffs.
Used Python to clean and transform large research datasets, standardizing and automating recurring data-processing steps across multiple projects. Built tracking tools with the Google Sheets API, visualized trends with Matplotlib and Tableau for performance monitoring and grant reporting, and performed inter-rater reliability checks with assistant training.
