What I'm looking for
I’m a music education Ph.D. candidate with a research focus on “Matthew Effects in Music Education” and curriculum design, including “An Examination of Music Teachers’ Perceptions About Factors Affecting the Successful Implementation of the National Core Arts Standards.” As Associate Director of Bands at Colorado Mesa University (2021–Present), I direct concert and marching programs and develop writing-intensive and methods-based coursework for future music educators.
My teaching and leadership background spans K–12 and higher education, including serving as Director of Bands and Music Supervisor, where I led recruitment improvements, vertical alignment initiatives, and large-scale program planning. I emphasize culturally responsive teaching, accessible rehearsal structures, and assessment tools aligned to standards like TQS and FEAPs, while supporting student growth through coached practicum experiences and research-informed curriculum decisions.
