Alyssa Hernandez

I’m a driven registered nurse with education in multiple critical care specialties, trauma/ER, and acute level care. I’m passionate about delivering outstanding care to patients of all ages and their families, while continuing to advance my knowledge of medicine and its practices.

I bring current, high-stakes clinical readiness through certifications in BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS), PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS), ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS), NEONATAL RESUSCATATION PROGRAM (NRP), and TRAUMA NURSE CORE COURSE (TNCC). I’m also trained in ULTRASOUND GUIDED VASCULAR ACCESS, strengthening my ability to support safe, efficient patient care.

Since April 2023, I’ve worked as a REGISTERED NURSE in the FLOAT POOL at DELL CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER, building 3 years of experience as an inpatient RN supporting a pediatric float pool team. I collaborate with interdisciplinary medical teams while caring for varying acuity levels, including acute care, PICU, CCU, NICU (level 4 NICU), PACU, imaging, and emergency care in a level 1 trauma center—always completing thorough documentation and providing education to promote long-term success for infants, children, and teenagers.

I also bring leadership experience from 1 year as a CHARGE NURSE, overseeing and directing operations of each unit while assisting with bedside care, guiding other nurses in their practice, and mending education gaps in line with hospital policy. Beyond that, I lead unit education initiatives for experienced staff and the new graduate nurse residency program, mentored 3 new graduate RN residents, and currently function as a preceptor for float pool residents/fellows and nursing students. In parallel, I serve as SPORTS MEDICINE & RECOVERY NURSE for DALLAS STARS & AFFILIATES (January 2024–current), supporting injury prevention and management, game and practice emergency care, wound care, post-injury recovery and therapies, pain management, and care coordination across our medical team and outside specialty care.
