Alex Stokes
@alexstokes
Computer science graduate focused on cybersecurity, specializing in Python, packet analysis, and applied threat detection for SOC roles.
What I'm looking for
I’m a computer science graduate with a cybersecurity focus and hands-on experience in network intrusion detection and traffic analysis. I bring strong skills in Python, applied cryptography, packet analysis, and defensive security tooling to help teams spot and respond to threats quickly.
In my projects, I trained a multiclass detection model focused on DDoS and Syn flood attacks, reaching 99% accuracy on test data and working toward similar performance in live scenarios. I also led a team of four to build a SQL-based payroll system for secure data storage and retrieval, and I designed and developed a study group finder web application with registration, search filters, and messaging.
I’m comfortable working in collaborative, fast-moving environments—backed by team leadership and project management experience—and I’m seeking an entry-level cybersecurity or SOC analyst role where I can apply threat detection fundamentals, strengthen defensive monitoring, and grow into impactful security work.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Payroll System (SQL Database)
Independent Project
Led a team of four to develop an employee wage management system. Designed and implemented an SQL database for secure data storage and retrieval while coordinating development and testing.
Network Intrusion Analysis Tool
Independent Project
Trained a multiclass detection model focused on DDoS and SYN flood attacks, achieving 99% accuracy on test data. Worked toward similar performance in live test scenarios using network traffic patterns.
Autonomous Drone Control System
Independent Project
Developed a network-based control system using a Raspberry Pi 5 and a Matek FCM, enabling autonomous guidance without traditional radio control. Configured and debugged real-time communication and control in a Linux environment using GPS-relative navigation.
Study Group Finder Web App
Independent Project
Designed and developed a web application to help students find study partners. Implemented user registration, search filters, messaging, and integrated front-end/back-end components with database support.
