Alex Hapka
@alexhapka
Finance and mathematics educator, leader in competency-based programs and specialist in data-driven research.
What I'm looking for
I’ve built and led competency-based MBA education for years, serving as Academic Program Coordinator and Core Faculty at Walden University. I administer MBA Competency-Based Education (CBE), coach excellence, and develop CBE competency rubrics while championing new MBA specializations. I’m focused on measurable outcomes, accreditation readiness, and helping teams turn program strategy into results.
Alongside my administrative leadership, I teach finance, healthcare finance, economics, quantitative business analysis, and MBA coursework in areas like strategy, innovation, and capstone work. I’ve also been a Certified Doctoral Mentor, chairing dissertations across leadership, marketing effectiveness, educational effectiveness of teaching strategies, and quantitative business analytics in finance and investments. I bring a practical, adult-learning mindset—translating complex concepts into structured problem-solving.
My industry background strengthens how I teach and assess: I’ve served as Senior Investment Research Director and Senior Director roles, overseeing research and product development initiatives grounded in statistical factor modeling and investor relations insights. Earlier, I led forecasting, risk management, data warehouse, and new technology deployment for utility delivery businesses, and improved pricing and planning systems using econometric techniques and time-series methods. This combination of analytics and operational planning shapes how I drive program improvement.
Since 2019, I’ve founded Xceltutoring.org to support local and remote students—especially adults returning to school—who need help with mathematics, accounting, and finance topics. I also continue contributing through professional publications, conference presentations, and academic governance and accreditation work. I care deeply about helping people build effective “playbooks” for success in career advancement.
