Alex Acosta

I’m an aspiring full-stack developer building data-driven applications with Python, React, and Flutter. I enjoy turning complex requirements into practical features—whether that’s fast APIs, clean UI components, or thoughtful user experiences.

Through projects like Off-Campus Housing Platform (UCSC), I built SlugPads using Python (FastAPI) and PostgreSQL on the backend, with React (Vite) on the frontend. I implemented filter functionality that updates query parameters and re-fetches results, and I configured CORS middleware and environment-specific settings via a .env file.

In GDC Club: Housing Portal Plus, I led full-stack development of an Android app in Flutter and Firebase, helping students access housing data with 80% accuracy. I also increased engagement by 10% by building “Sammy,” an AI assistant powered by Gemini 1.5 Flash, and I integrated Google Maps API for housing visualization.

Alongside my coursework in Data Structures and Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence, I’m strengthening my engineering foundation with certifications in Google Cybersecurity and IBM’s Introduction to Software Engineering. I bring reliability from my experience promoting to Produce Specialist—steady execution, strong attendance, and initiative under high-volume demands.
