@aj06
Senior full-stack engineer building data-heavy dashboards and AI-integrated enterprise platforms with Python, Kafka, and React.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with 10+ years of experience building internal platforms, data-heavy dashboards, and AI-integrated applications in multi-team enterprise environments. I focus on production-quality systems: clear API contracts, reliable schemas, and observability that makes operations predictable.
At Duke Energy, I designed and built BEAR (Boundary Electronic Access Review), an internal Angular/TypeScript platform backed by Java REST APIs and a .NET data layer. I also engineered Python Confluent Kafka clients for the Critical Infrastructure Data Hub (CIDH), delivering high-throughput ingestion with schema-validated records across distributed consumers.
I bring a strong diagnostics mindset, implementing structured logging, metrics capture, and diagnostic dashboards in Splunk and Kibana to monitor pipeline health and troubleshoot ingestion failures. I’ve authored Bash automation to reduce manual overhead and supported Java microservices (including NC Identity Manager) through incident response, regression testing, and maintenance patching.
I’m equally energized by applied AI engineering—architecting an autonomous LLM agent using Claude 3.5 Sonnet with the ReAct loop, plus LangChain tooling for RAG and multi-agent orchestration. I’ve built a FastAPI backend with streaming chat/memory/TTS endpoints and deployed it on GCP Cloud Run with Docker and CI/CD, while instrumenting evaluation and observability for iterative prompt and model improvement.

Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Full-Stack Engineer / IT App Analyst
Duke Energy
Jun 2020 - Mar 2026 (5 years 9 months)
Designed and built BEAR, an internal Angular/TypeScript platform with Java REST APIs and a .NET data layer to give security teams centralized visibility and CRUD control over firewall rules and cyber asset lifecycles. Engineered Python-based Confluent Kafka ingestion and implemented observability with structured logging and dashboards in Splunk and Kibana.
IT Instructor - Computer Systems
North Carolina A&T State University
Jan 2018 - Jan 2024 (6 years)
Designed and taught Python coursework focused on scripting, data processing, and system automation, including production-quality graded projects. Developed hands-on curricula for Linux/Bash administration and led students in building multi-tier web applications using HTML/CSS, Java, and REST APIs.
IT Associate III - Automation & Systems
Duke Energy
Jun 2018 - Jun 2020 (2 years)
Engineered Python and Bash automation scripts for ADMS and Big Data frameworks to automate data extraction and job scheduling, reducing manual tasks by 79%. Collaborated with DevOps teams to maintain CI/CD pipelines, performed regression testing, and managed Informatica for data accessibility and performance.
Performed systems risk auditing by evaluating and testing access controls and operational configurations for enterprise application data centers to uphold data integrity and regulatory standards. Coordinated regulatory evidence gathering and translated findings into formal risk cases with remediation tracking to closure.
CIDH Run Data Platform
Duke Energy
Designed Kafka topic schemas and data models for structured event logs, ingestion manifests, metrics outputs, and run result records for distributed consumers. Engineered Python Confluent Kafka clients for high-throughput streaming and added observability hooks for per-topic lag monitoring and failure alerting, including automation of Tripwire vulnerability reporting for risk exposure dashboards.
BEAR Dashboard & Run UI
Duke Energy
Built Angular dashboards providing executive and operator views of BES asset status, EACMS groupings, firewall rule posture, and lifecycle history with filtering, comparison, and export capabilities. Designed REST APIs and SQL schemas for firewall rule records and run manifests, and refactored legacy processes into a maintainable Angular/.NET platform with documented service contracts.
