Agustín Bertone

At INGEBI–CONICET, I independently designed and executed an end-to-end metagenomics pipeline for 20 environmental samples, from raw sequencing data through functional and taxonomic annotation.

I use MEGAHIT, MetaBAT2, CheckM, Bowtie2, Anvi'o, and Kraken2 to generate high-quality bacterial genome bins and investigate microbial communities’ metabolic potential. My undergraduate thesis and a manuscript in preparation build on this work, where I will be a co-author.

At UNSAM’s Institute for Biotechnological Research, I combined computational work with microbial cultivation, strain handling, protein extraction and purification, and SDS-PAGE. I systematically tested experimental variables and validated protocol changes against concrete evidence.

I'm completing a Biotechnology degree and work comfortably in independent, asynchronous, remote-first environments. I bring rigorous quality criteria, reproducible workflows, and clear communication of technical findings to broad audiences.
