At the Wildlife Institute of India, I studied the abundance and social organization of male Asian elephants in Rajaji Tiger Reserve. I individually identified adult males and used spatially explicit capture-recapture analysis to estimate their density and abundance.
I also collected data on factors affecting male elephants’ association patterns and modelled those patterns using multinomial regression. This research was published as “Abundance and social organisation of male Asian elephants in northwestern India” in Wildlife Research.
As a Project Associate at the Wildlife Institute of India, I monitored wildlife use of underpasses on National Highway-72 using camera traps, and used Audiomoths to collect acoustic data for biodiversity monitoring.
My field experience includes studying blackbuck mating ecology at Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and elephant corridor use during floods at Indian Institute of Science. I’ve also conducted elephant ecology and tracking workshops for forest staff in Odisha.
