Aatika Fatima
@aatikafatima
I’m a Senior Software Engineer specializing in B2B payments, virtual cards, and fraud prevention with end-to-end ownership.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Software Engineer with 9+ years of experience specializing in B2B payment platforms, virtual card lifecycle management, and enterprise microservices. I focus on integrating global payment providers, designing intelligent card-selection engines, and building fraud-prevention systems that hold up at scale.
In my most recent role, I owned payment platform architecture and delivery end-to-end—from design and development to deployment and production operations. I built a distributed B2B payment platform processing 10,000+ travel transactions monthly and integrated 6 global payment providers with multi-provider redundancy, reaching 99.9% payment availability.
I also drove profitability and reliability improvements through decision automation and resilient fallback logic. I designed a Payment Decision Engine that automatically selects the most profitable card from a pool of providers, eliminating manual card selection, and implemented failover logic to reduce manual booking intervention significantly.
Security, observability, and developer velocity matter to me. I delivered microservices across the virtual card lifecycle, enforced single-use policies with PCI DSS-aligned encryption, and improved fraud outcomes by blocking fraudulent authorization attempts in real time—while leveraging Claude Code for faster, higher-quality delivery.

Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Designed and built a distributed B2B payments platform with virtual card lifecycle and fraud-prevention microservices, integrating six payment providers and achieving 99.9% availability through multi-provider redundancy. Implemented a payment decision engine for card-selection profitability and automated card cancellation/authorisation workflows with PCI DSS encryption and production observability
Built Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs for a receipt visibility/reporting platform consolidating data from 10+ downstream systems. Implemented JPA/Hibernate persistence with validation, added RabbitMQ retry mechanisms for async pipelines, and configured New Relic monitoring and production alerting.
Developed enterprise Java applications using Spring, Hibernate, and J2EE best practices across multi-year client engagements. Implemented Spring Security authentication/authorisation, designed database schemas, and optimized SQL queries with Hibernate persistence layers and enterprise design patterns.
Delivered advanced Java and enterprise software training and developed curriculum aligned to Spring, Hibernate, and software engineering best practices. Mentored students on core enterprise development skills.
