Aadil Ahmed Memon
@aadilahmedmemon
Highly motivated molecular microbiologist with expertise in transcriptional regulation.
What I'm looking for
I am a highly motivated molecular microbiologist with extensive experience in bacterial transcriptional regulation, host-pathogen interactions, and antimicrobial resistance. My doctoral research at Shanghai Jiao Tong University focused on the essential response regulator MtrA in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, where I integrated experimental and computational approaches to uncover novel mechanisms of DNA-binding specificity and transcriptional control.
Throughout my research, I have developed proven expertise in protein-DNA interaction assays, genome-wide regulatory mapping, and structural modeling. My work aims to inform therapeutic strategies against tuberculosis, and I have successfully identified binding sites and regulatory mechanisms that contribute to the understanding of bacterial behavior. I am passionate about advancing the field of microbiology and contributing to innovative solutions for infectious diseases.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Ph.D. Research
Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Sep 2016 - Present (8 years 11 months)
Investigated DNA binding specificity and regulatory mechanisms of M. tuberculosis MtrA. Combined ChIP-seq, BLI/SPR/ITC, and in silico analyses to identify 294 binding sites with ~80% accuracy.
M.S. Research
Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Sep 2014 - Present (10 years 11 months)
Combined and optimized sanger sequencing, real-time PCR and DGGE methodologies to detect clinically relevant EGFR mutations in lung cancer patients. Identified a high prevalence of EGFR mutations in Chinese lung squamous carcinoma patients, particularly TKI-sensitive exon-19 variants.
