Role Overview
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Secretary to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will serve as a vital communication link within the unit, facilitating efficient operations and ensuring that the needs of both patients and staff are met promptly and professionally.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day administrative tasks of the unit, including scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and ordering supplies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, families, and staff, providing exceptional customer service and addressing inquiries with professionalism.
- Support clinical staff by preparing necessary documentation and maintaining accurate logs for patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Facilitate effective communication among the healthcare team, ensuring that critical information is accurately relayed and documented.
- Assist in the management of patient flow and the coordination of unit activities to optimize patient care.
- Participate in unit meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
- 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an administrative or secretarial role.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Proficient in using office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephone systems.
