Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lead Unit Secretary to oversee administrative operations within our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will ensure the smooth functioning of unit operations, facilitate communication between healthcare professionals, and maintain patient records accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate administrative tasks for the unit, including scheduling, correspondence, and documentation management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for unit-related inquiries, fostering effective communication among nursing staff, physicians, and patients
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient records
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new secretarial staff, promoting best practices in unit operations
- Monitor inventory and order office supplies, ensuring the unit is adequately stocked for daily operations
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate patient flow and optimize scheduling for appointments and procedures
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in a healthcare administrative role, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare operations
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role within a healthcare setting
- Certification in medical office administration or a related field
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Strong proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Experience with healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and patient management systems
