Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Unit Clerk Supervisor to lead our administrative support team within the healthcare environment. In this role, you will manage clerical operations, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely documentation and communication across various departments, thus enhancing patient care and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of unit clerks, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
- Oversee the maintenance of patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
- Facilitate effective communication among medical staff, patients, and families to promote optimal patient care
- Train and mentor new unit clerks, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment
- Assist in scheduling and managing patient admissions and discharges, ensuring seamless operations
- Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of administrative functions
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Certification in healthcare administration or a related field
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
- Familiarity with healthcare information systems and data entry
- Understanding of patient privacy laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
