Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Tool and Die Design Manager to lead our engineering team in designing and developing precision tooling and die sets for our manufacturing processes. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of tool and die designers, providing guidance and mentorship to foster professional growth and development.
- Oversee the design and development of tooling solutions, ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and production, to ensure seamless integration of tooling into the production process.
- Implement and enhance engineering best practices, including design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives, to optimize tooling efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct thorough analysis of tooling performance and reliability, utilizing data-driven insights to inform design modifications and enhancements.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the tooling design function.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in tool and die design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) with a strong portfolio of successful tooling projects.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and materials used in tooling applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex engineering issues effectively.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing or CNC machining.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in CAD and CAM software for tooling design and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of materials science and selection for tool and die applications.
- Experience with tool path generation and simulation software.
