Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Chief Estimator to spearhead our estimating efforts for timber projects. This fully remote role will allow you to leverage your extensive knowledge of timber pricing, market trends, and advanced estimating tools to drive our project success and contribute to our strategic growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the estimating process for timber projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost models and pricing strategies, incorporating factors such as material, labor, and overhead costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather necessary project information and requirements.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential cost overruns and develop mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to streamline processes and enhance reporting capabilities.
- Prepare and present detailed estimates and proposals to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency in the bidding process.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in estimating within the timber industry, with a proven track record of successful project estimation.
- In-depth knowledge of timber products, pricing structures, and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and generate accurate estimates.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Timberline or similar platforms.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in project management or operations within the timber sector.
- Certification from a recognized estimating body (e.g., ASPE or AACE) is a plus.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and regulations in the timber industry.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in cost estimation software and project management tools.
- Strong understanding of materials management and procurement processes.
- Ability to leverage data analytics for improved estimating accuracy and forecasting.
