Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance on best practices and methodologies for cost estimation
- Develop, implement, and maintain estimating processes and systems to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Review project plans and specifications to prepare detailed, accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure all factors are considered in estimates
- Conduct thorough risk analysis to identify potential cost impacts and develop mitigation strategies
- Present estimates and project budgets to senior management and clients, clearly articulating assumptions and methodologies used
- Continuously evaluate and enhance estimating tools and software to optimize performance and accuracy
- Participate in post-project evaluations to assess estimating accuracy and identify areas for improvement
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on large-scale projects
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a team of estimators
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and cost control
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with a track record of delivering precise estimates
- Proficient in estimating software and tools, such as Sage Estimating or similar
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) are highly desirable
- Experience in specific market sectors, including commercial, residential, or industrial construction
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Advanced skills in cost estimation software and project management tools
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
