Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Estimator to lead our estimating team in delivering accurate and competitive project estimates. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive experience in cost estimation and project management to ensure successful project bids and execution, driving profitability and operational efficiency across our portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead the estimating process for large and complex construction projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost databases to support estimating activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather essential information for accurate cost estimations.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to prepare detailed proposals and bid submissions.
- Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential cost impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in cost estimation within the construction industry.
- Proven track record of successfully estimating large-scale projects, with a focus on accuracy and competitiveness.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and processes.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project details and data.
- Proficient in using estimating software such as Sage Estimating, ProEst, or similar tools.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with both public and private sector projects.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with project management software like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in cost estimation software and tools.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of construction project management tools.
