Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Special Education Aide to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will provide tailored support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive educational environment. Your expertise will empower students to thrive academically and socially while collaborating with educators and families to implement effective strategies and interventions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate support services for students with special needs, ensuring adherence to individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with teachers and specialists to adapt instructional materials and classroom strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress, providing feedback and recommendations for adjustments to IEPs as necessary.
- Facilitate positive behavioral support and interventions, promoting a safe and respectful classroom environment.
- Provide training and guidance to other aides and staff on best practices for supporting students with special needs.
- Engage with families to build strong partnerships, keeping them informed of their child's progress and any necessary changes to support strategies.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in Special Education, Education, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Experience in leading or mentoring a team of aides.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and educational software.
- Knowledge of data collection methods for tracking student progress.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and virtual classroom tools.
