Role Overview
We are seeking a Soil Conservation Manager to lead our initiatives in sustainable land management and soil health improvement. In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement strategic conservation programs that enhance soil productivity, protect natural resources, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and community partners to drive impactful soil conservation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute innovative soil conservation strategies that address key environmental challenges and promote sustainable land use.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of soil health and land management practices, providing expert recommendations to landowners and stakeholders.
- Lead educational programs and workshops to raise awareness about soil conservation and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Collaborate with agronomists, ecologists, and local agencies to develop integrated conservation plans that align with regional and national environmental goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of conservation programs, analyzing data to inform future initiatives and policy recommendations.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, effectively communicating complex scientific information and conservation outcomes.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in soil conservation, land management, or environmental consulting.
- Strong understanding of soil dynamics, erosion control practices, and sustainable agricultural techniques.
- Proven ability to manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve conservation objectives.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience with grant writing and securing funding for conservation projects.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal conservation policies and regulations.
- Familiarity with GIS tools and environmental modeling software.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
