Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Assistant Professor of Silviculture to join our esteemed faculty. This role is integral in advancing research and teaching in silviculture, forest management, and sustainable forestry practices. The successful candidate will engage students in rigorous academic inquiry while contributing to impactful research that addresses contemporary forestry challenges.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate-level courses in silviculture and related disciplines, fostering student engagement and critical thinking.
- Lead and conduct original research in silviculture, focusing on sustainable forest management practices, restoration ecology, and ecosystem services.
- Supervise graduate students and provide mentorship in research methodologies, data analysis, and academic writing.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to secure funding for research projects and contribute to community outreach initiatives.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences to enhance the department's visibility and impact.
- Participate in departmental and university service, contributing to curriculum development, faculty meetings, and community engagement efforts.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- A Ph.D. in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in silviculture and forest management, with a strong publication record.
