Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Professor of Forest Technology to join our esteemed academic institution. This role will focus on advancing research and education in forest technology, emphasizing sustainable practices and innovative solutions in forest management, conservation, and restoration. Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses on forest technology and related subjects
- Conduct cutting-edge research in forest technology, including sustainable forest management, remote sensing, and ecological restoration
- Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in their research projects and academic pursuits
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance research initiatives and educational programs
- Engage in community outreach and partnerships with industry stakeholders to promote sustainable forestry practices
- Publish research findings in reputable journals and present at academic conferences
- Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated expertise in forest technology and sustainable forest management practices
- Strong record of research and publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in teaching at the university level with a commitment to student success
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Postdoctoral experience in forest technology or a related field
- Experience with grant writing and securing research funding
- Familiarity with modern technologies in forest assessment and management, such as GIS and remote sensing
- Active engagement in professional societies related to forestry and environmental science
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in GIS and remote sensing software for forest monitoring and analysis
- Experience with statistical analysis software and data visualization tools
- Knowledge of forest management planning tools and sustainable forestry certifications
