Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Ships Equipment Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of cutting-edge marine equipment systems. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive technical expertise to drive innovative solutions that enhance the operational efficiency and safety of our fleet.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams in the design and evaluation of complex marine equipment systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Architect robust equipment solutions that address critical operational requirements, incorporating advanced technologies and materials
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and feasibility studies to inform project decision-making and ensure reliability and safety
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including ship designers, regulatory bodies, and manufacturing teams, to streamline integration and performance validation
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for system design, project management, and technical problem-solving
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, and project reports
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in marine equipment design and engineering, with a focus on ships and offshore systems
- Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects from concept to deployment
- In-depth understanding of marine equipment systems, including propulsion, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with advanced simulation tools and methodologies for marine system design
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as IoT, automation, and green energy solutions in marine applications
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for equipment design and modeling
- Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS) for performance evaluation
- Knowledge of marine industry standards, including ABS, DNV GL, and ISO
- Experience with project management software and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
