Role Overview
We are seeking a Chief Marine Engineer to lead our marine engineering initiatives, overseeing the design, maintenance, and operation of sophisticated marine systems and vessels. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in marine engineering to ensure operational excellence and compliance with industry standards while driving innovation and sustainability in our marine projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and optimization of marine systems and vessels, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of marine equipment, ensuring reliability and performance are consistently achieved
- Establish and enforce engineering policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers and operations personnel, to ensure successful project delivery and support
- Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate potential hazards associated with marine operations
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in marine engineering and integrate them into operational practices
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in marine engineering, with a proven track record in leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of marine systems, including propulsion, power generation, and safety systems
- Experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards in marine operations
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex engineering challenges
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with sustainable marine technologies and practices
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in marine design software and simulation tools
- Knowledge of CAD systems and their application in marine engineering
- Experience with condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance technologies
