Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Serology Laboratory Supervisor to lead our serology testing team, ensuring the highest standards of laboratory practices and compliance with regulatory requirements. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the day-to-day laboratory operations, mentor staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes while maintaining a focus on patient safety and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Manage the operational workflow of the serology laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate testing and reporting of results.
- Supervise and mentor laboratory personnel, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of quality control and quality assurance procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Lead the development and validation of new serological assays, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation.
- Monitor laboratory performance metrics and provide regular reports to senior management, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure adherence to biosafety protocols and promote a safe working environment for all laboratory staff.
- Participate in training and development programs for laboratory staff, enhancing their skills and ensuring consistent performance.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of serological testing methods and laboratory instrumentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in quality management systems and regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead teams through complex challenges.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation used in serology testing (e.g., ELISA, Western blot).
- Strong understanding of laboratory information systems and data management.
- Familiarity with molecular diagnostics and emerging technologies in the field.
