Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Reforestation Project Manager to lead our innovative initiatives aimed at restoring ecosystems and enhancing biodiversity. In this pivotal role, you will design and implement reforestation projects while collaborating with local communities, governments, and NGOs to ensure sustainable practices and long-term ecological impact.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage comprehensive reforestation strategies that align with organizational goals and community needs
- Lead site assessments to identify suitable locations for reforestation, considering ecological, social, and economic factors
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including ecologists, agronomists, and community stakeholders, to ensure project success
- Monitor and report on project progress, including growth assessments and ecological impacts, using quantitative and qualitative metrics
- Facilitate community engagement initiatives to educate and involve local populations in reforestation activities
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to achieve project milestones
- Stay informed on best practices and emerging trends in reforestation and ecological restoration
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in project management within environmental science, forestry, or related fields
- Proven track record in leading reforestation or ecological restoration projects
- Strong understanding of ecological principles, forestry practices, and sustainable land management
- Excellent project management skills with familiarity in using project management software
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field
- Experience working with local communities and understanding their needs and perspectives
- Familiarity with GIS tools and data analysis for environmental projects
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello, or MS Project)
- Experience with GIS software and environmental monitoring tools
- Ability to analyze ecological data and synthesize findings into actionable insights
