Role Overview
We are searching for a strategic and visionary Director of Recreation to lead our recreational programs and initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive recreation strategy that aligns with our mission and enhances community engagement. You will oversee program development, staff management, and budget allocation while fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive recreation strategy that meets community needs and enhances participation in recreational activities.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of recreation professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage budgets for recreation programs, ensuring effective resource allocation and maximizing funding opportunities.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis, participant feedback, and community engagement to inform future programming decisions.
- Collaborate with community stakeholders and partners to promote recreational opportunities and enhance community well-being.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to recreational programming and facility management.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in recreation program management, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing community recreational programs.
- Strong understanding of budget management, resource allocation, and grant writing.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Recreation Management or a related field.
- Experience working with diverse communities and promoting inclusive programming.
- Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g., National Recreation and Park Association).
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in program evaluation methodologies and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with facility management software and community engagement platforms.
- Ability to leverage technology for program promotion and participant engagement.
