Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Director of Genetic Counseling to lead our genetic counseling team and drive innovative strategies that enhance patient care and outcomes. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise to oversee the development and implementation of genetic counseling services, ensuring they align with our mission of providing accessible and personalized healthcare solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of genetic counselors, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to foster professional development and ensure high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement evidence-based protocols and best practices for genetic counseling services, enhancing the standard of care provided to patients.
- Collaborate with clinical, research, and educational teams to integrate genetic counseling into multidisciplinary care pathways.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient needs, utilizing advanced genetic testing technologies to provide tailored counseling and support.
- Oversee the training and education of genetic counselors and other healthcare professionals on genetic concepts, testing options, and interpretation of results.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of genetic counseling programs, utilizing data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Advocate for patient access to genetic counseling services and contribute to policy development at organizational and community levels.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or a related field.
- Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
- 8+ years of experience in genetic counseling, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of genetic testing technologies, ethical considerations, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive organizational change.
Preferred:
- Experience in telehealth and virtual care delivery models.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing educational programs for healthcare professionals.
- Research experience with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in genetic testing platforms and bioinformatics tools.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management practices.
- Experience with telemedicine technologies and remote patient engagement strategies.
