Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Genetic Counseling Intern to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in the field of genetic counseling, working closely with certified genetic counselors to support patients, families, and healthcare providers in understanding genetic conditions and testing options. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful patient care and research initiatives in a fully remote setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing for and conducting genetic counseling sessions, including patient intake and follow-up
- Support the development of educational materials for patients and healthcare providers
- Participate in case reviews and contribute to discussions on patient management and genetic testing options
- Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing research projects
- Collaborate with the genetic counseling team to enhance service delivery and patient engagement
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Current enrollment in a Master's program in Genetic Counseling or a related field
- Strong understanding of genetics and genetic counseling principles
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred:
- Prior experience in healthcare or patient-facing roles
- Experience with research methodologies or project management
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with genetic testing technologies and databases
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools
- Knowledge of telehealth platforms and electronic health record systems
