Role Overview
We are looking for a Supervisor of Power System Dispatching to lead our dedicated team in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our power grid. In this role, you will oversee the real-time management of power system operations, coordinating dispatch activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the dispatching team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the power dispatch team to ensure optimal load management and reliability of the power system.
- Monitor system performance and respond to operational challenges, implementing corrective actions as necessary to mitigate risks.
- Lead the development and execution of training programs for dispatch operators, ensuring proficiency in control room operations and emergency response procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to facilitate timely resolution of operational issues and enhance system reliability.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements, implementing best practices in dispatching operations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in power system operations or dispatching, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of power system operations, grid management, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex operational challenges effectively.
Preferred:
- Experience with SCADA systems and advanced energy management systems.
- Professional certifications in power system operations or related disciplines (e.g., NERC certification).
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration and demand response programs.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in SCADA and EMS software, with the ability to analyze and interpret real-time data.
- Experience with outage management systems and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity measures applicable to power system operations.
