Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to lead our multidisciplinary team in providing exceptional patient care and operational excellence. This role is crucial in overseeing the management and performance of the PACU, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of nurses and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in patient care.
- Oversee the operational management of the PACU, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure quality care delivery and optimal patient outcomes.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures that comply with hospital regulations and accreditation standards, continuously assessing and enhancing patient safety protocols.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to develop and optimize post-anesthesia care pathways.
- Analyze clinical data and operational metrics to drive performance improvement initiatives, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective care.
- Facilitate training and development programs for PACU staff, promoting evidence-based practices and ongoing educational opportunities.
- Engage with patients and families to address concerns and improve satisfaction within the PACU experience.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Active RN license with a minimum of 5 years of experience in perioperative or critical care nursing, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing clinical operations within a PACU or similar unit, demonstrating strong knowledge of anesthesia care and recovery protocols.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams.
Preferred:
- Certification in Post-Anesthesia Nursing (CAPA) or similar credential.
- Experience with electronic health record systems and performance improvement methodologies.
- Background in budget management and financial oversight within a healthcare setting.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and healthcare analytics tools.
- Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring equipment and protocols.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards in perioperative settings.
