Role Overview

Responsibilities

- Lead the development of new fruit varieties, from conception through commercial introduction, ensuring alignment with market demands
- Establish partnerships with universities, agricultural organizations, and industry stakeholders to foster collaborative research opportunities
- Advise on best practices in soil health, irrigation, and sustainable farming methods to enhance ecosystem resilience
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at industry conferences to disseminate knowledge and elevate the company’s thought leadership
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in Pomology, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in fruit research, cultivation, or agronomy, with a proven track record of leadership in a scientific setting
- Deep understanding of pomological principles, plant breeding, and genetic improvement techniques
- Exceptional analytical skills, with experience in data-driven decision-making and statistical analysis
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced breeding techniques, including CRISPR and other genetic modification technologies
- Familiarity with agroecological practices and sustainable farming principles
- Strong publication record in top-tier journals within the field of pomology or plant science
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in fruit pathology, entomology, and soil science to inform comprehensive research approaches
- Proficiency in using data analysis software (e.g., R, Python) for statistical evaluation and modeling
- Experience with GIS technology for spatial analysis and agricultural mapping
