Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Pathology Technician to join our innovative pathology team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and leading a team of pathology technicians in the preparation and analysis of specimens. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic results that drive patient care.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the pathology laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance protocols
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of pathology technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Oversee the preparation, processing, and staining of tissue specimens for microscopic examination
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Implement and maintain laboratory protocols, including safety procedures and best practices for specimen handling and preservation
- Evaluate and optimize laboratory workflows and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a pathology laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of pathology processes, techniques, and laboratory equipment
- Certification as a Pathology Technician (ASCP or equivalent) is required
Preferred:
- Experience with digital pathology and advanced imaging technologies
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR)
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular pathology
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation and automated systems for specimen processing
- Strong understanding of quality control and assurance practices in a clinical laboratory
