Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Optometrist Assistant to join our team, where you will play a critical role in enhancing patient care and supporting our optometry practice. In this position, you will leverage your expertise to assist in patient examinations, manage clinical tasks, and contribute to a seamless patient experience while working closely with optometrists.
Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists in performing comprehensive eye examinations, including patient history intake, visual acuity testing, and preliminary tests
- Ensure the accurate collection and documentation of patient data in our electronic health records system
- Provide exceptional patient care by educating patients on eye health, treatment options, and post-examination procedures
- Manage inventory of optical supplies and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the clinical space
- Coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and communications to ensure a high level of service
- Support optometrists in specialized procedures and treatments as needed, demonstrating a proactive approach in the clinical setting
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience as an optometrist assistant or in a similar clinical setting
- Strong understanding of optometric procedures and terminology
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction
Preferred:
- Certification as an Optometric Technician or equivalent
- Experience in a fully remote healthcare environment
- Knowledge of optical products and lens types
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with optometry-specific software and tools for patient management
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment such as autorefractors and visual field analyzers
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and software updates
