Role Overview
We are seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) to join our dynamic team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories and conducting preliminary eye examinations
- Administer and interpret diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal imaging
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and surgical procedures by providing technical support and ensuring optimal patient comfort
- Maintain and operate advanced ophthalmic equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
- Educate patients on eye health and the importance of follow-up care while addressing any concerns they may have
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) and assist with scheduling follow-up appointments
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Active certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ophthalmic clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare providers
Preferred:
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with various ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and technologies
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment such as autorefractors, OCT, and perimeters
- Experience with EHR software and data entry processes
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures in an ophthalmic practice
