Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Ombudsman to lead our organization's commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective resolution of concerns. In this pivotal role, you will champion the voice of our stakeholders, ensuring that their feedback shapes organizational policies and practices. You will drive initiatives that foster a culture of openness and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive ombudsman program that effectively addresses concerns and grievances from stakeholders
- Advise senior leadership on systemic issues and recommend solutions that enhance organizational effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into complaints, ensuring due process and confidentiality
- Facilitate conflict resolution processes, employing mediation and negotiation techniques to achieve equitable outcomes
- Collaborate with various departments to create policies and procedures that reflect best practices in stakeholder engagement and resolution
- Provide training and resources to staff on conflict resolution, ethics, and complaint management
- Prepare and present regular reports on trends, findings, and recommendations to the board and senior leadership
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in conflict resolution, mediation, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Deep understanding of organizational dynamics, stakeholder engagement, and ethical considerations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex information and identify root causes
- Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations and managing sensitive issues discreetly and effectively
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, public administration, conflict resolution)
- Certification in mediation or conflict resolution
- Experience working within a regulatory or compliance framework
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools to track and evaluate program effectiveness
