Role Overview
We are looking for a visionary Chief Mediation Commissioner to lead our mediation initiatives, ensuring the effective resolution of disputes and fostering a culture of collaboration and understanding. In this pivotal role, you will oversee mediation strategies, drive policy development, and enhance our mediation framework to support both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization’s mediation policy and strategy, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals.
- Lead a team of mediators, providing mentorship and guidance to promote professional growth and effective mediation practices.
- Facilitate high-stakes mediation sessions, demonstrating exceptional negotiation skills to resolve complex disputes.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify mediation needs and promote the benefits of mediation as a primary conflict resolution tool.
- Analyze mediation outcomes and develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of mediation processes, driving continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain relationships with external organizations, enhancing the mediation framework and fostering collaborative partnerships.
- Conduct training and workshops to educate staff and stakeholders on mediation principles, processes, and best practices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in conflict resolution, law, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mediation, conflict resolution, or a related field, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong understanding of mediation principles, practices, and ethical considerations.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
Preferred:
- Experience in developing mediation policies and frameworks at an organizational or systemic level.
- Professional mediation certification or accreditation from a recognized body.
- Experience in working with diverse cultures and communities, fostering inclusive mediation practices.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in mediation software and case management tools to streamline mediation processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to inform decision-making and improve mediation outcomes.
- Familiarity with legal frameworks and compliance requirements related to mediation.
