Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Professor of Olericulture to join our esteemed faculty. This role is pivotal in advancing our academic mission through high-quality teaching, innovative research, and community engagement in the field of vegetable crop science. Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in olericulture, plant physiology, and sustainable agriculture
- Develop and implement a robust research program focused on vegetable crop production, pest management, and soil health
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in research projects and academic pursuits
- Collaborate with industry stakeholders to enhance the practical applications of research findings
- Engage in service activities at the departmental, college, and university levels
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- A Ph.D. in Horticulture, Plant Science, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated expertise in olericulture and vegetable crop production
- Experience in teaching at the university level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred:
- Postdoctoral experience in olericulture or a related field
- Proven ability to secure research funding through grants and industry partnerships
- Experience with online teaching methodologies and curriculum development
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS) for research data analysis
- Familiarity with advanced horticultural practices and technologies
- Experience with experimental design and field research methodologies
