Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our interdisciplinary care team. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential support to licensed occupational therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to our clients, facilitating their rehabilitation and enhancing their quality of life. You will lead a team of occupational therapist assistants, ensuring best practices are followed and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the occupational therapy department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with licensed occupational therapists to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide direct therapy services to patients under the supervision of occupational therapists, demonstrating advanced therapeutic techniques and modalities.
- Mentor and train junior occupational therapist assistants, promoting professional development and adherence to clinical guidelines.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss patient progress, challenges, and potential adjustments to treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress in accordance with established protocols.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
- Current state licensure or certification to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational therapy, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques, assistive technologies, and rehabilitation principles.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in a variety of clinical settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and home health.
- Certification in advanced practice specialties, such as hand therapy or geriatrics.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation software.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote patient interactions.
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment and technology to enhance patient independence.
