Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished academic leader for the position of Endowed Chair in Nuclear Physics. The successful candidate will be a key figure in advancing our research agenda, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing the educational experience for graduate and undergraduate students. Responsibilities
- Lead innovative research initiatives in nuclear physics, focusing on both theoretical and experimental aspects
- Secure funding through grants and collaborations, while fostering partnerships within and outside the academic community
- Mentor and guide graduate students and early-career researchers, promoting a culture of academic rigor and integrity
- Develop and teach advanced courses in nuclear physics, contributing to the curriculum and enhancing student engagement
- Participate in departmental governance and strategic planning, advocating for resources and policies that support research and education
- Engage with the broader scientific community through conferences, publications, and public outreach efforts
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics or a closely related field
- A proven track record of impactful research, evidenced by publications in high-impact journals
- Experience in securing external funding and managing research projects
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across disciplines
Preferred:
- History of service in academic administration or departmental leadership roles
- Established network within the nuclear physics research community
- Experience with interdisciplinary research initiatives
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in experimental and/or theoretical nuclear physics methodologies
- Familiarity with advanced research tools and technologies relevant to nuclear science
