Role Overview
We are seeking an accomplished scholar to fill the Endowed Chair in Near East Archeology, a prestigious position that will significantly contribute to the understanding and appreciation of the ancient cultures of the Near East. Responsibilities
- Lead innovative research initiatives in Near East archeology, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, fostering a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking and exploration
- Supervise and mentor students and junior faculty in research projects, promoting academic excellence
- Develop community outreach programs that share insights into the cultural heritage of the Near East
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the university's archeological research and education efforts
- Secure funding through grants and partnerships to support research initiatives and academic programs
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Archeology, Anthropology, or a related field with a focus on Near East studies
- A distinguished record of scholarly research and publications relevant to Near East archeology
- Demonstrated experience in teaching at the university level, with a commitment to student engagement and success
- Proven ability to secure research funding from external sources
Preferred:
- Experience in leading research teams and mentoring graduate students
- Active involvement in professional associations and conferences related to archeology
- Fluency in relevant languages (e.g., Arabic, Hebrew) that enhance research capabilities
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in archeological field methods and advanced analytical techniques
- Familiarity with digital tools for data collection and analysis in archeology
- Experience in utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for archeological research
