Role Overview
We are seeking an esteemed and experienced Emeritus Professor of Old Testament to join our distinguished faculty. This role encompasses the development of advanced research initiatives, the mentoring of graduate students, and the promotion of scholarly engagement within the field of Old Testament studies. You will play a critical role in shaping the academic landscape and fostering a vibrant intellectual community.
Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct innovative research in Old Testament studies, contributing to scholarly publications and conferences
- Mentor and advise graduate students and junior faculty, fostering their academic and professional development
- Develop and teach advanced courses in Old Testament literature, history, and theology
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research projects and departmental initiatives
- Engage in community outreach and public scholarship to enhance the visibility of Old Testament studies
- Participate in departmental and university governance, contributing to strategic planning and policy development
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Old Testament Studies, Biblical Studies, or a related field
- Demonstrated record of significant scholarly contributions, including publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Extensive teaching experience at the graduate level
- Ability to mentor students and junior faculty effectively
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in administrative roles within an academic setting
- Active involvement in professional organizations related to Old Testament studies
