Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Health Information Manager to oversee the management and protection of patient health information. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while improving data quality and accessibility within our health information systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health information management policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and security of patient health information by overseeing data entry, storage, and retrieval processes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and IT teams to optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems, enhancing usability and data reporting.
- Conduct regular audits of health information systems to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Train and support staff on health information management best practices and the use of health information systems.
- Act as a liaison between healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and external agencies regarding health information management issues.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- RHIT or RHIA certification or equivalent experience in health information management.
- 3+ years of experience in health information management, including experience with coding, compliance, and EHR systems.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and other healthcare data privacy laws.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
- Experience with data analytics and reporting tools to drive insights from health information systems.
- Proven leadership skills and experience managing teams in a healthcare setting.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in health information management software and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
- Familiarity with coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
- Experience with data analytics tools and techniques for healthcare data management.
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
